BACKGROUND:

When are you moving? Around the spring of 2014.
Where are you coming from? Knoxville, TN
Why are you moving? Looking for a nice community to settle down in. Good schools, lots of amenities, wanting that 'American neighborhood' feel. Safe, rich in history and overall a good place to raise kids.
Where will you be working? Have my own online business that does relatively well. Not really concerned about jobs.
Have you been here yet? Been to Lexington, KY years ago, really enjoyed the area. I was in Harrisburg, PA twice this past year for business. Some parts were sketchy, but that's usually in every city. Lancaster/Lititz was very nice.

Will you buy or rent? Would rather buy. Keep in under 170k.
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? Condo.
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend?
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Doesn't matter.

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Single, have a daughter that is 3.
Do you prefer public or private schools? Doesn't matter.
Do you have pets? No.
Do you want or need a yard? Not really, as long as a park is close.
Are you keeping a car? Yes.
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Doesn't matter.

What do you want to be closest to? Shopping, i.e supermarkets, parks.

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? Similar religious would be nice, I am a christian. No particular domination.

This neighborhood is close to a park, a short drive to shops, services, and airport and train stop in Middletown, plenty of little kids and mostly folks affiliated with the Hershey medical center: Deer Run Commons | Charter Homes | Harrisburg New Homes

I've never been to Lexington, KY but I spent quite a few years working in Harrisburg and living in Lancaster. Let's just say that I love the Lancaster area so much that after being gone for just over a year I'm moving back there. I don't think I'd ever want to live in Harrisburg, just not my cup of tea, but Lancaster and the surrounding area I love.

Thank you both for your input.
I have been looking into Charter Homes, very cute!
In your opinion, what is the job industry like in Lancaster? Is it growing in the medical field, education, tech, etc?
