Well about a month ago we relocated from NW PA to the Palmyra area. We are in an apartment for now and I can say I really miss the country feel. Although the area has some positives, along with an easy commute for wife at Hershey Med. I recently drove north for work and live the scenic countryside around Juanita County. I have no idea what areas may be conducive to family living and if the schools at all compare to the Palmyra area but thought maybe worth asking. I have viewed a couple homes near the top end of the Palmyra District but not too impressed.

Juniata County is a beautiful, rural county. I have a few coworkers that live there. I'm not sure why any part of Juniata County wouldn't be conducive to family living. But I surely wouldn't want to commute from there to Hershey Med Center. Have you looked at the Grantville or Jonestown areas yet? Those areas have beautiful countryside and they are a short commute from Hershey. They are also not that far off a drive from Harrisburg because of their proximity to I-81.

I'm pretty sure:

Grantville is Lower Dauphin School District which is just as good, if not better than Palmyra.

Jonestown is Northern Lebanon School District, which is rated lower than Palmyra and Lower Dauphin, but I don't think it's a horrible school district.

Yea I have ki.da mixed feelings about the school districts. Lower Dauphin seems real good, my boss at work lives in that district. The whole Palmyra area seems up and coming to me? It seems like they try to compete with Hershey because of the close proximity and have yet to really take off. That being said, I have a daughter in 9th grade and one in 5th and they both seem to be academically challenged and the school to be in good communication with parents. I'd really hate to pull them to another new school next year but am very uneasy about settling for subdivision living...
