Hi all,
I have lived in Pennsylvania place and the ship poke area of Harrisburg and feel really safe but now I am looking into possibly purchasing a place maybe around the midtown area, how safe is it near midtown? I saw some nice places on green street that are cheap but I'm weary of moving to that location. I would love to be as close to restaurant row as possible but also want to feel safe. Thanks for any input!

That area seems to be well on its way to revitalization, and becoming very trendy. I have walked around that area many times. It's lovely and I always see young professionals walking dogs, etc. I don't live there, so I cannot answer beyond how I feel when I visit. It seems as safe as the good parts of central Pittsburgh or Baltimore, but perhaps someone else can attest to that.

I grew up in Philadelphia and now live right outside Harrisburg in the suburbs, but I love Midtown's vibe. Close to so many great restaurants, the Whitaker Center, and of course, the river! As with any move, I always recommend that buyers do their due diligence and check out a neighborhood they are considering a move to - during the morning, afternoon and late evening hours. This will give you a better sense of what's going on in the neighborhood. I also recommend a great site to check out the recent crimes that may have taken place in a given neighborhood. It's spot crime dot com.
