I went today for Williams grove speedway from Poconos and was surprised how nice that part of PA is and it seems like there is less hustle and people are kind. Stopped to get food at Greek place in Mechanicsburg and it was tasty and lot of new developments around and everything seems take care of. The view for the night of the Harrisburg skyline was no Manhattan of course but it give me a good impression!

I've lived in Harrisburg's suburbs for nearly a year now and I agree, it's a nice area and the city has a beautiful skyline, especially at night (check it out from City Island or at Negley Park in Lemoyne sometime!). The suburbs in Derry township (Hershey) and the Camp Hill/Mechanicsburg area are very nice, and those school districts are very good as well (from what I've researched). The only few things I would say that I've found to be cons here are that Harrisburg city proper (and older suburbs) have a bad crime rate, Cumberland county unfortunately has high levels of radon and bad air quality (from all the traffic on interstates/highways and delivering to warehouses), and the towns/city don't quite have the amount of businesses and walkability that I would hope for (though State College is my comparison tool so yours may be different). Other than that, yes, I love the area. Glad you enjoyed your visit!
