My husband and I are planning to move to the Hummelstown in a few months. We have 2 kids one age 7 (2nd grade) and the other is 5 (K). Right now we live in Alabama and both children go to school all day, then they go to an afterschool program right at the school. I noticed that Kindergarten is only half day, can anyone tell me if there is an afterschool program for kids in Kindergarten? Both my husband and I are going to be working full time. Another question I have is since we have to sell our house in Alabama before we can buy in Hummelstown, we are thinking about renting an apartment or a house for 6 mos. Where is a good place to find rentals?
Thanks for all your help.

Cindy

Google search the local real estate agencies for Hummelstown, Hershey (Derry township), and Harrisburg. They'll list for all the local towns. I was born and raised in Hummelstown and if I ever move back north that's where it would be. My family settled there in 1900.

A good rental place is Alpine heights... behind the Hershey medical center up bullfrog valley road past the duck pond. Can't miss it. Rent is approx. 60o plus... If you desire something for less, there should be several apartments next to the post office in 17036 and towards paxton and harrisburg... west of hummelstown. Hummelstown is a very quiet dry town. Very quiet. I moved here with my late wife from Panama City. This is secondary home. Expect snow every now and then, more so in Feb. But roads are for the most part "cleared rapidly"
Good luck. Always keep pressing forward.
ps... drive carefully, deer.

Default Taxes

On second thought... Expect to pay approx 600. 900. dollars in township taxes every year... or is it 6 months? Inclusive. investigate this matter if you do not desire high school property, occupancy, occupational, amusement taxes...
