We might be moving to the area.
Right now we're in NY (suburbs) but have lived the last 10 years in VT/NH. in rural areas.

I'm interested in renting (3 adults and one dog) at the start but will eventually (why we're relocating) buy a small house with our own land (our dream).

I don't want to be off in a really rural area and we do like our amenities (good supermarkets, thrift stores, comic book/game shops) but we like nature and would love to be near parks.

Another PLUS would be a good to great library. Our son would attend college so any recommendations about colleges in the area would be helpful, thanks.

Would we like Mechanicsburg? What about Carlisle.(we passed through there last year and I felt very at ease there).

Also any stats on crime would be great...we don't want to live in Harrisburg by the way. Years ago the wife and I first married and lived in Camp Hill so we "know" about H-burg.

(Not looking to offend anyone here--just for info).

The job would be in Mechanicsburg or Harrisburg if I got it.

I probably would probably check out Northern Dauphin County within the Central Dauphin School District. Not sure what your price point of a home is. That makes a BIG difference.

Etown, mount joy or Hershey would be your best bet.

Even Middletown isn't bad.
