Agreed! It isn't perfect, but it does have some charm, especially the Capital Complex, river front park, city island, and even State Street leading up to the capital building from the other direction.

If only we could remove all the dilapidated structures, and scrap yards along Cameron Street, that would be a big improvement.

I completely agree! I moved here from the Pittsburgh area 4 months ago. My quality of life is so much better here! My kids are very young (1 year old twins and a 2 year old) but their daycare is fantastic and anything comparable in Pittsburgh had a 1-2 year waiting list. My commute between home/work/daycare is 15-20 minutes (back in Pittsburgh I spent over an hour commuting each way). It did take some time to find work here (thankfully my old job in Pittsburgh was willing to let me work remotely and commute back into the office once or twice a month for meetings until I could find something). But I blame that on my spotty and unusual professional experience. ;-)

Oh and I used to live in Allentown as a child...30 years ago. It was pretty nice back then; not so much now :-(

Hello all, see my letter from "Neleh" re moving to Harrisburg. I like the housing stock; however, I do not keep a vehicle and no plans to ever keep a car again. Therefore, public transportation is a top priority to me & I do not mean "uber", etc. According to maps I check when ckng. housing to buy, there seem to be no bus routes indicated. Philly has become so $$$$$ for housing (to buy) and I would have to move to a "hood" area to afford. Sorry to offend the PC people.
