Has anyone in the area seen this low flying helicopters, and what they might be? On Easter day I saw two of them fly over our neighborhood near Columbia, and again yesterday I saw three near St. Anns.

I don't know what their typical flight pattern is, but there is a tour service that flies out of the Smoketown airport. Weekends and nice days in the warmer months typically result in seeing a few helicopters overhead, here in Strasburg. I see both a Robinson 22 and 44 on a regular basis, here in the Amish farm country.

Civilian or military?? Makes a difference when you specify what you saw. If military then its probably the Air National Guard or even active duty boys out of Fort Indiantown Gap.

PA Air National Guard doesn't have helicopters.
The Gap isn't an active duty base - it's a Guard base, though it does have Army (National Guard) aviation units.

Then why are helicopters flying out of Fort Indiantown Gap whenever I'm driving by on my way to Harrisburg?? I've military helicopters flying out of there more than once on my drive.
