my wife passed away unexpectedly on Mar. 26th leaving me with 3 small Chihuahua's and am curious as to how the above mentioned areas are for someone who just turned 60 and doesn't want the headache of home ownership anymore. I had a job confirmed and approved with the state in Harrisburg but when the Coronavirus came they withdrew it before my start date of Mar. 30th. I'm hoping to still get the job once the state imposed hiring freeze due the virus is over since I was hired and given an actual start date. I'd hate to have to go through the whole hiring process again. So as far as renting now that I'm on my own I was looking for a place in my age group and dog-friendly somewhere between $800 - $1,000 a month if there are any. Appreciate the help!!

That is a long commute 1hr plus and Interstate 81 is an absolute mess with truck traffic and daily accidents.

I would focus on Middletown Boro. My guess is you could find something within that price range. It is a pleasant boro and about a 20 minute commute to downtown Harrisburg. Good luck

Lemoyne is another area. Close to the capital and it's offices.
Marysville is more low key yet a quick jump down to the Harrisburg local.
