My family and I are going to upstate NY on Friday. We'll be on I-81 to Harrisburg, and 15 North to NY. Is there anywhere I can get up to date info on areas near Harrisburg that might be closed? I'm hoping there is somewhere I can call so when I get near Harrisburg I'll know if I have to take a detour.

You may have trouble, alot of 15 from Hburg North is near the Susquehana. We were going to Upstate NY today, but we will wait til tomorrow and be up there Friday since we are in FL, hoping it will have gone down some by then. Alot of the little towns up there have no elec. now. The highways may be open but the smaller lower roads are closed. So even if you can get there you may not be able to get off the highway where you want to. You may try 81 thru binghamton, tho that looks bad right now.

If we can get on 15 north, we won't be getting off till we get to NY. It looks like the worst flooding is in the NW part of the state, but I'm worried all that water will come down the Susq..

They are flooding up in those parts. The Susquehannah is due to crest pretty bad tonight into thrurs. My aunt is in Susquehannah and they are swamped.

Last I heard, a chunk of I-81 was closed up the the NY border. May be open now...

Do a search for NYS highway dept - it will lead you to a site that has up to date road closing info.

Anywhere from Binghampton EAST to Livingston Manor area along the NY/PA border is very scetchy. Many bridges and roads have washed out.

You might get some info on PA on this website link removed Let me know if it does not work for some reason.
