How does the Hummelstown district rank against other districts in the Harrisburg area? I know Hershey has good reviews, but Harrisburg has too many negative reviews.

Thanks

Lower Dauphin (Hummelstown Borough was consolidated with some neighboring townships 50 years ago) schools usually rank well. There's usually a higher price for homes in Derry Township SD vs. Lower Dauphin though. The SW half of Derry Twp has a Hummelstown postal address but in the Hershey/Derry Twp schools. Conversely there is an area with a Hershey address in South Hanover Twp/Lower Dauphin schools.

Right now my wife and I are looking at moving in the next few months, and we're mainly looking at the Hummelstown/Hershey area. Close enough to everything, but far enough to still be small.

There seem to be quite limited real estate for sale in Hershey and what is there isn't too very modern, which has us looking towards Hummelstown. I'm a teacher and my wife is a CPA so we're not too worried about finding jobs when we get there. We have family in Elizabethtown, but don't want to be THAT close to them

Hershey 17033 zip code is fairly well built out, what available land there is, is the property of one of the Hershey entities (a collective term for Milton Hershey School Trust, The Hershey [Chocolate] Co., Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co., sometimes including Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, etc.) and in no hurry to be developed for residential use.

The SW corner of Derry Twp has plenty of new building, again Hershey schools with a Hummelstown 17036 postal address.

There is more building activity north of Hershey in South Hanover Twp, Lower Dauphin schools mostly with Hummelstown 17036 postal address. Also in Palmyra schools 17078 zip code (mostly South Londonderry Twp/Lebanon County)

Some larger new communities are on the drawing board in Londonderry Twp/Dauphin County, Lower Dauphin school district, probably with a Middletown 17057 address but those are at least 18 months out from availability.
