hi everyone
you have probably seen some thread from me in different parts of PA
i have had a draw to PA for almost 10 years now, but for one reason or another have not been able to actually move there yet.
i know i want to live in a city, and so now i am looking for info on Harrisburg

what is the neighborhood near Italian Park like?? (north side small number streets) it looks beautiful (the park itself)
is it a walkable area? how is the general feel, crime, etc? schools?
lots of bugs from being near the water during summer? is it really cold during winter?
thanks!

Very nice neighborhood, mostly middle-upper class with more working class between 3rd and 6th. A handful of rough not well-kept houses but mostly a solid neighborhood. Not much crime at all. Definitely a walkable area however very little retail to walk to. Mostly parks (Italian Lake is beautiful, as you stated) and Riverfront park which connects you to downtown.

School district is Harrisburg which is one of the worst in the state. Private schools are recommended. I'm not sure about which elementary serves the northern part of the city, but it might not be too bad, that is a pretty solid part of town.

Dear Finding Hope,

I live on 3rd Street in Pennsylvania Place Apartments. It's a secure building and you can't get it unless someone who lives here opens the door for you or you are a resident. Once you move in you are given a keypad and must use it for the weight room, pool, laundry room, business center, parking deck and front door. Parking costs extra but street parking is only good at night, otherwise it is run by a parking meter. The bus transfer center is 5 minutes away and will take you all over. The public bus and train station is right here too. Mod cut - please do not post e-mail address.

Pennsylvania Place is in downtown Harrisburg, not north Harrisburg near Italian Lake.
