I'm from the hometown of Spam, Austin, Minnesota, and I had no idea spam was so popular in Hawaii until I moved there. Hawaii is probably the only other place besides my hometown that really pays any attention to it. Every summer Austin hosts all sorts of spam festivities downtown in front of the Spam Museum. Everyone I know hates the stuff though--largely because not only is it the kill-floor scraps (lips, *******s and the like), but the stench of Hormel is known far and wide, and every so often if you stand outside you can hear the pigs screaming. Enjoy!

During alerts in West Germany we would put a couple of cans of spam on the line truck's engine to warm them up. The treat was spam on RIZ crackers... Beat the old left over Vietnam K rations. Then along came MRE - meals ready to eat. No more SPAM!

[quote=Alohikea;14839732] I am a Nurse not a nurse and I'll thank you to remember that. quote]

Then why didn't you capitalize it when you said you were a nurse?

Animal shapes? Cool. Never thought of that. You had a creative mom. Gotta try that. Fried slivers of spam with brown rice, mushrooms, tomatoes, with egg over easy on top. MMMMMMMM.
