Is SPAM still plentiful and popular in Hawaii. My family lived there in the 1960's and it was a staple product in the kitchens of everyone we knew. When we moved back to the mainland my mom said she would never eat SPAM again and she hasn't.

Yes, it is still a staple an we love it! One of our favorite quick dinners is Spam and eggs (with rice of course!).
My hubby is from he Mainland and turned his nose up at Spam early in our marriage. He would watch us (me & the kids) eating it with a sneer on his face. Until he actually sat down and tried it! Now he is the one that requests Spam and when we are at the Comm he is the one to make certain that there is a good supply of Spam in the cart!

Thanks for clarifying...
Aloha...thanks for the clarification. I didn't know Spam was actually 'canned meat'. Didn't know what it was except that you could fry it or carve it into animal shapes.

Sheesh...
Yes...I know what spam is...I was joking...suppose I should have included a chart or graph or Federal Statistics or mentioned it costs about 8 bucks a gallon, huh? Lighten up.

Glad to hear SPAM is still a staple product on the islands. We eat it here in Alabama, probably not as often as I had it growing up. it is frowned upon as "unhealthy". hey, since when is anything that is good to eat healtyhy?!

Ha! That is really funny ! My Hubby is from Alabama and the LAST thing they are worried about is 'healthy' eating habits. If it ain't fried, battered, sugared or buttered then it isn't from 'Bama.
