Are you posting this just to inflame and provoke people? To start an argument?

No, I prefer a discussion. Now that you mentioned it, it may have been better suited for 'Great Debates'.

I've seen loads of discussions like these in other cities as well, some have resorted in a flame war, most stayed civil.

Lingle, IMO is an excellent Republican Governor, I support her banning civil unions.

I don't see why the government or religions should be involved in this, really. This should be a matter between adult citizens, just like any other sort of personal arrangements. Why should we care if two adults want to live together or not? Is it really our business as long as both are adult and consenting?

It's not our place to judge. Didn't it say in the bible, "judge not lest thee be judged"?

yeah, great governor. she just cost our economy millions of dollars. we are a destination wedding state. there goes a good chunk of the hotel dollars, food, dollars, limo and car rental dollars, tour dollars, flower and photographer dollars, gift shops, art gallery dollars and all the other places that would have got business from people celebrating their civil union.

Sad that this will be the legacy she is remembered for.

Polls show that the majority of people in Hawaii did not want this to become law.

Let's face it, someone was going to be pissed off, no matter what she decided.

Can someone tell me if taxes would have went up if this had become law, considering benefits and taxation?
