Hi,
I am thinking of going to HI for the first two weeks of December. Either Oahu and Maui or Kauai. Is there anywhere where it will be sunny regularly? I'm thinking the south side of Maui would be OK, and I assume the vog issue is no more. Thanks, for your information.

S P -- You may get really, really unlucky and have a week of rain, but in all likelihood you will have a week of near-perfect weather with plenty of sun in any of those places. December weather is generally great, with the biggest threat of bad weather up on Kauai. Vog is still a possibility, but we haven't had much lately.

I was there for christmas in 1992 and it rained everywhere all the time except the south coast of Maui. I assumed this was normal for this time of year.

Maui (Lahaina), Kauai (Poipu), Oahu (Waikiki) and Big Island (north Kona) all should have good weather in December.

About the same, but plan on visiting the rainy side of whatever island you go to. The rain makes that side of the island beautiful. Just listen to the local weather forecast. During the time you are there, you'll probably find good weather on the north shore of the island you are on at least for a day or more. .

Oh, I've been to the rainy side of all the islands xcept the two small ones. I just want warm sun. Usually I go to C.A. but the weather there has been progressively bad in January over the last few years. Last winter I spent two wet freezing weeks there & thought never again.
