Or Tourism is getting slower. I remember passing near the Hilton Hawaiian Village it Used to be PACKED now its just a few couples walking around. I dunno but the islands changed and I'm scared if tourism is down then jobs are down.

Statewide, tourist visits are down (vs last year at this time), but only by a tiny bit ... less than half a percent. But overall the trend continues to push for record numbers each year.

A couple of interesting tidbits: International tourists (Japanese in particular) are up by about 5 percent, which means that domestic travelers are down (enough to make it even out).

July travel to the Big Island is *way* down (about 25% lower than a year ago at this time).

And finally, a lot of the military who are nominally stationed in Hawaii have been ... deployed.

Drive down Kalakaua at around 8 pm....if there is no people walking along the street that is a very bad sign.
