I like beer, but not the mainstream stuff (Bud, Miller, Coors, etc...).

What's the Micro-brew/Import scene like in Hawaii?

I know Sierra Nevada is there, what else?

What's your favorite(s)?

There is a lot from the Pacific NW. My California and Washington friends know all of them. To me they all taste the same, like beer

The Kona brewery has a lot of flavors and they rotate specials on tap. I believe on Tuesdays they serve the cask style beer.

Japanese beers, like Kirin and Asahi.

Avaiable at Don Quixote, 801 Kaheka Street, Honolulu, HI, often at a very good price.

There is a pretty good selection of microbrews in the grocery stores.

That said, drink the local beer.

Haha You sound like my husband vs. me on the beer front. I love what you guys refer to as "that gross aftertaste" and don't care for the more blande Coors flavor he loves so much (he's from CO though, so.... ). I have to say, though, that my faves are dependent on what I'm eating - can't beat Asahi Dry and sushi, or Dos Equis or Corona w/lime with Mexican food...or a yummy micro brew with artery-clogging pub food. Just my opinion of course - my hubby can do Coors, Heineken or Corona with everything. I can't wait to try to local beers out there. I've been putting it off 'til I get there so I can try it in it's "natural habitat"

"Steinie's and Heinie's" The local favorites!! AKA Steinlager and
Heineken beers. I have both on sale at Longs and Honolulu's Don
Quixote.

Frankly, I rarely, if ever drink in Hawai'i. There is too much to do and
fun to be having, and I've never feel comfortable after mixing
alcohol with warm/hot weather. It slows me down. Of course, I usually
end up being the designated driver....which makes everyone else happy.

Default Whoops !!

I've really got to learn to proofread before I post!

I have "seen" both on sale at Longs and Don Quixote
in the past. Sorry for the mistake, I have absolutely no
financial interest, etc. in Steinlager, Henieken, Longs or
Don Q....
