Since living/business costs affect everyone, are medical obstacles for new arrivals more/less difficult than the mainland, to access a quality PCM ?
Some reports state that many doctors leave the islands. Are those false?
example of many.............http://www.saveourdoctorshawaii.org/news.html

Many doctors do leave the islands - generally they are the younger ones though.
We have had decent - but not great - experiences on the Big Island. This ranges from general practice to the only 2 orthopedic surgeons on the island.

Very easy to find a primary care physician in Honolulu - there was a recent Honolulu magazine ranking top Physicians and most of the Primary Care Physicians were taking new patients.

If you have health insurance through Kaiser's they send the patients to the doctors on Oahu as necessary. The Oahu doctors also circulate to satellite offices on the other islands so even though there are doctors on Oahu, the folks on the outer islands can still see them. If you need to see a specialist, then it can take awhile, but seeing the primary care doctors usually aren't a problem. At least, if you have Kaiser's insurance you can get primary care physicians, that's the only route I've had any experience with. I'm sure there are other ways, too, but I'm not familiar with them.

Thank you to all! I will keep that info for a later visit but wanted some "first hand" knowledge.
