Aloha Kaua, ok we all know what is bad about Hawai'i, cost of living, traffic etc, etc. If you moved away from Hawai'i and then wantted to move back later? What were the reasons?

Me i want to go back to Hawai'i because i miss the culture, people, the weather, nani wahines. sun, more sun lol. Everything is more colorful and vivid(as long as u stay away from waikiki lol) even more light lol, i also miss the celebrations, like lei day, chinese new year, obon festival, king k days etc etc. U can share for any island k.

If I won the lottery. Since I live here that is a joke - fortunately I can afford it. I'd say 2/3's of my team where I work will eventually move to the mainland at some point due to the hardships of living in Hawaii (low pay).

I moved away when I was a kid and had no choice. I want to move back for the weather and gardening. We are considering the big island so housing is significantly cheaper on the big island and traffic better on the big island than where we live (Washington DC area).

Ya we all know how expensive it is to live there. But what keeps you there? Work?

My wife, as a single mom, moved from Hawaii to the Mainland in 1998 for better job opportunities and to broaden her sons' horizons. While she loves the PNW, she's Hawaiian at heart, and wants to move back. I love Hawaii and wanted to live there long before I met her. The only thing stopping us is money. When she retires in a few years, we think we'll be able to move.

Wife can't leave due to her very elderly father with health issues otherwise we would be retired in the South of France.

You know brah that not everything is really so expensive, each island is different. Hands down Oahu is the most expensive. But ive heard that the Big Island is alot more cheaper for housing. The problem is jobs. I really wish u guys luck. I live in portland too. And i have got to ask you guys how do you deal with lack of sun and it being rainy and cloady all the time? Aloha Mahalo

Unlimited income, but if I had unlimited income I would have two or three residences and would not live in Hawaii fulltime.
