Some of the housing stock in Mililani, Ewa Beach and Hawaii Kai are similar to San Diego.
Nothing on Oahu reminds me of Austin or Dallas, the two places I've lived in Texas.
And if you're referring to the area of the Continent South of the U.S., there are some coastal areas in Central America that come to mind geography-wise, like Panama, Belize or Costa Rica (those are the only places I've been that would be similar).
Honolulu reminds me of Santa Monica, CA with the palm trees, homeless and crushing traffic congestion. Not Oahu, but the Lahaina, Maui area reminds me of Malibu, CA during the 1960/70's, I'm not saying these places necessarily look similar, but something about them feels similar to me.
Some parts of the Big Island, especially near Kawaihae port, remind me of the hill country around Austin, TX. The rock and soil in some areas have the same texture, color and some "hills" look similar.
The dry leeward sides of all the islands remind me of the Texas Hill Country, especially the kiawes (closely related to the mesquites in Texas)
