This is cool.

Hawaiian Electric Co. has put online graphs that show how much solar and wind power is being generated on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island throughout the day and how much the renewable sources contribute to total power consumption.

Nonvariable renewable energy generation such as geothermal on Hawaii island, bagasse-fired generation on Maui and HPOWER on Oahu are not shown.

Each solar panel on our roof has it's own inverter so 110 volts is coming off the roof instead of lower voltages. Each solar panel sends a signal to tell the system how much power is being generated. The whole island wide system is tracked, and with some systems each individual panel can be tracked too. If a connection fails, it can be fixed before the system performance is affected.

It is interesting how computers are integrating into our daily lives.
