You guys are too much? Are you joshing me - You're too much, HbH! You expect people to actually read history books? Ask the next five people you meet today, what the concept of "Manifest Destiny" means to them?

Here, let me help you with that: http://picturinghistory.gc.cuny.edu/...hp?item_id=180

My native Hawaiian friend says " *White People like Ostrich, put head in sand." I challenged him on that and said " So how do they breath?" He just rolled his eyes!

My old mother told me, when I was very young I would steal cookies out of the cookie jar with one hand, and cover my eyes with the other. That way it didn't really happen . . .or I didn't see it happen so it didn't exist. Still with me here, HbH? Consider, it worked for me.

Now I am old, I no longer steal cookies, I make Grumbel Cakes for breakfast and look both ways when crossing a one-way street. The Truth is, or appears to me, that people really don't want to know. I'm the sort to follow things (sometimes) to their logical conclusion(s). So I wrote the American Ostrich Association and asked "Why do ostriches bury their head in the sand?" Here's what they said:
***American Ostrich Association

Good Luck!

Rust

Sad that this is what people think of native Hawaiians, that this question even comes up. I'm as white as they get and I'd say Hawaiians are among the most friendly and welcoming people I've ever met. Treat them with respect and you're likely to get the same in return.

Exactly, i believe this image of native hawaiians hating whites startted on this forum when talking about foriegner attitudes on the islands and sovereignty discussions. Im guilty in a clumsy way of making it appear that way, im just not a great writter.

Now there are racist no matter where you go. But to be honest locals and even i don't hate white people because they are white. Most will agree thats its a behavior issue not race.

Yup. The overwhelming majority of white people that grumble about being picked on/singled out/racially profiled/etc have dooshbag attitudes. But sadly they don't even know they're dooshbags. Hence the grumbling.

In my experience, the people who find racism in Hawaii are the ones looking for it.

[quote=Grassyknoll;40023098]I am extremely disappointed in this thread.
Two pages in and Jungjohann has yet to show up with a cannibal reference

What has this site come to [/quote

Ok, I'm going to chime in here...I've noticed Jungjohann hasn't been writing drunk lately too. OpenD has exited Stage Right as well. Perhaps Jungjohann is proofreading the book OpenD is writing...hence, they're busy...busy getting drunk, drunk writing, just writing or none of that.

It's funny how I can read different forums and then wonder when someone isn't posting any longer where they are or what happened. It's like having a pen pal and then they stop writing and you wonder if they died and how would you know anyway if they did? Well, "funny" isn't really the word but I cannot think of anything better at the moment. I blame it on getting Soft Scrub in my eye when I was scrubbing out the tub.

Or maybe I'm just co-dependent on people I've never met.

Out of curiosity, I wondered if OpenD kicked the bucket, I couldn't find any online obituary so he's probably still around.....
