well?

clean, not a lot of people, no crap in the ocean so you're like swimming in a pool, and good waves.

Good waves is gonna limit it more so than anything else. What sort of good waves? Long board? Short board? Bodysurf? Less than 10 feet? More than ten feet?

There's usually a couple of surfer beaches on each island. I would guess Oahu has the most in number, but Oahu is getting crowded these days so you may not be able to just drop in on the waves.

Sunset Beach isn't exactly a place to go for "not a lot of people" -in terms of look and feel, the beaches in Maui are the most similar although they are facing south versus north.

They're actually, for the most part, on the west side of the Island, not many beaches on the south side, just cliffs. Beaches on Maui are far better for swimming as opposed to the north shore of Oahu, as Maui is protected by the Bigger Island to the south, Kahoolawe to the SW, Lanai, (Patio to you mainlanders), to the west and Molokai to the north. As far as avoiding 'crap' in the ocean, birds gotta fly, fishies gotta swim, and they all have to poop, somewhere..

Word to the wise, when swimming behind turtles, look out for the greenish/brownish 'floaters', (don't swim with your mouth open) and, especially, look out for Old Reliable, the curse of Maalaea Bay, 'All dressed up and nowhere to go', shark #133369
