Just FYI, Maui County very recently passed a law requiring a permit to use a beach for a wedding or reception. Your event planner can obtain it, or you can. Currently the permit is for one day on a specified beach. This means if it rains you cannot move to another location without a second permit. Maui County is looking at ways to make that process easier, as with online access, but the logistics of getting the permit is still catching up to the passing of the law.

Don't know if this is in place for other islands.

Can we make recommendations here? If so, I recommend Photographics Maui. They shoot weddings on all the islands, and do a fabulous job with processing, prints, and photobooks. Ask for Renee.

My wife and I got married on Kauai this past June (2008). We chose Kauai because I proposed to her there and the island was just so beautiful and not very city like. When we planned for our wedding, we were originally going to try to plan it ourselves, but most vendors will not work with you unless you have a wedding planner. After interviewing quite a few wedding planners, we found Marlene of Mira Mira Events. She was so great! Our wedding turned out to be more beautiful than we expected.
You can look for reviews on Yelp.com for wedding planners as well as Marlene from Mira Mira.
Hope this helps!

I am sorry, but you are incorrect. It is NOT the County of Maui, but the State of Hawaii DLNR (Dep't of Land & Natural Resources and this requirement is State-wide, not just on Maui. Please correct this, because inaccurate statements such as this hurt the wedding trade on Maui. Thank you.

Oh, one more thing. Only coordinators can obtain the permit, unless the individual has a minimum $300,000 liability insurance in place that names the State of Hawaii as an additional insured. Moderator cut: Advertising is strictly prohibited on this site. These are good recommendations but please refrain from promoting your business.

Default Hawaii Wedding Location

Hi there! I'm trying to plan my wedding in Hawaii for Aug 2010 and was wondering if I could get more info about your wedding location. It sounds like exactly what we're looking for. If you could send me those pictures you mention too, that would be great!

Default How was it?

So how did your wedding turn out? Where did you end up getting married? I'm looking for a destination for my wedding August 2010 and expect about the same amount of guests.
