Who knew?

Report found 'astronomical' response to online sex ads in Hawaii - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

"One in 11 Hawaii men are online sex shoppers."

"That's the conclusion of a new report that also appears to debunk the assumption that the vast majority of online sex buyers in Hawaii are visitors or members of the military."

"The response rate was "astronomical," garnering more calls and texts within 24 hours than a number of other cities, including Chicago, Boston and Denver.

And perhaps even more worrisome, the majority of respondents were reaching out from an 808 area code."

"Within four minutes of one of the ads being posted, seven calls and texts were made. And within 24 hours, an ad had received 756 contacts — 396 phone calls and 364 texts."

Wonder how this compares to the mainland?

Is it a reflection of the local dating situation that people are so willing to pay?

Either way, yuck.

Saw this story on the News. Was not surprised. My Wife was telling me at one of her Child Welfare conference she attended, that included police and FBI. This was one of the topics brought up, online Sex Traffic included.
My Wife used the same word Sick!! I agreed, it is Sick.

I guess living in a place like Hawaii makes folks a little friskier than say North Dakota.

"What's unclear: Whether researchers controlled for visitors or members of the military calling from landlines in hotel rooms or vacation rentals."

In Vegas, prostitution is legal and largely used by tourists. In Hawaii, tourists call these ads from their hotel room phones. I call BS on the headline article.

I'll wager the shipping costs are a deal breaker, and, to make matters worse, some settling may occur during shipping.

Hawaii is just a no win situation.
