Hawaii Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono thinks Americans ought to fundamentally change the way they think about climate change, arguing that climate change should be thought of as a “religion” rather than a “science.”

“Believe in climate change as though it’s a religion, it’s not a science,” Hirono encouraged.

Pointing out the sort of lunacy that infests Hawaii politics and politicians.

As an afterthought, it occurs to me that if she had been a Republican and said the same sort of thing, this thread would have gone viral with criticism of the pol.

I take it by your silence that you agree with her.

Additionally, I am trying to rekindle the degree and level of dialogue that used to be found here. It's deadsville these days.

Oh...

If I am silent about rhetoric, that doesn't afford you the convenience of assuming anything about me.

It's unclear to me if her comment was meant to endorse or criticize that approach. I'm guessing the latter, based on her immediate follow up statement and her track record. In any case, it's not worthy of any dialogue.

Silence implies consent, so I guess it does. Anyway that is my assumption until dispelled.

So, let me see if I read you right.

A sitting U.S. Senator thinks that a highly-disputed theory, that has potential civilization-killing implications, should be treated as a religion, and you can't muster enough concern to discuss it.

BTW, I don't think her meaning was unclear to anyone. She might have walked it back, but the meaning was clear.

Your potential as an enlightening and thought provoking conversationalist is undermined by your arrogance and unnecessary combativeness.
