I was responding to a poster’s prediction that US deaths wouldn’t even hit 60K.

Yes we are easily going to break 60K and we might even easily surpass 100K. The consensus among the experts (no one here) are that it would have been much worse except for the quarantine.
However, we can't stay locked down until a uncertain vaccine is ready and the virus is just not that deadly. Sooner or later trade-offs will be made, hopefully by well informed experts.
