"All offers must be submitted with proof of funds. Earnest money will be required with accepted offer. Seller will not respond to offers until property has been in MLS a full 7 days. Multiple offers already received."

The way it's listed the house is basically being auctioned.

A new strategy real estate agents have been using lately is listing houses below value and let the bidders drive the price higher than what they would have received if it was listed at fair market value.

I get your point and it is a strategy that has been around for a long time in rural areas where there are few comps. But I really doubt that this will be bid up to Hawaii prices.

The program was only going to "sponsor" a limited number of CONUS residents to fly to HI. They would not provide housing or jobs; the understanding is that they would be remote workers with sufficient income to support themselves AND provide valuable contributions to the community.

I applied for the heck of it. Made 2nd cut, probably because of my environmental science background.

I suppose. But it is strictly work when they get here. Take the rail transit workers that come here to work to build the rail transit for example. Do you charge them rent? Or just pay them for food and other necessities? No rent of course. Just the food and other expenses will do fine. Will they get in trouble with the bank? Probably. But when they say what they're doing for Hawai'i, building something important, they'll get laughed at, but an acceptable excuse to leave that bill alone. With doctors notice, no need to pay any rent. Just work and build that thing. To go through this first, ridiculous. Should be automatic signing with the bank from the get go.

If we decide not to pay the workers for food and other necessities until AFTER they complete the rail, maybe it would get completed sooner !! It’s just my theory but I don’t really know if this would work or not.
