Are mosquitoes around even when it's raining?
I read that it rains 75% of the time. When it does rain does it rain in a given day does it usually last short like a shower, or does the rain continuously pour down for a long time almost without rest?

Do people wear some kind of native rain coat made out of leaves? Plastic raincoat smells like chemicals.

On the North Shore of Kauai looking at the weather reports you would think it rains here all the time 24/7/365. In reality the rain usually comes down at night and then you get these 20 minutes showers that roll in during the day and then the sun shines.

Mosquitos are here there is no doubt and what happens is when you move here you are going to get bit and often. It takes anywhere from 2-3 months and you build an immunity to them and the itching and bumps stop.

It doesn't rain 75% in Hawaii, at least not the place I lived.

Most of the time it did rain, it was a very light shower that only lasted for a few minutes, and everyone just ignored it.

In Hawaii its not lord of the fly's its lord of the mosquitoes. They will take you to their lair and raise you as their own.

We actually wear ti leaves with nothing underneath at all times in case of rain. And it's more like 99% of the time, not 75%.

Hawaii is made up of several islands. It depends on what island your on and where on that island you are. Some places it seems to rain all the time, others get very little rain and its arid.As for rain coats, your talking Hawaii not some remote tropical shipwreak island. Oh and they don't greet you at the shore and throw you in a boiling pot of water or toss the women into the volcano to apease the rain gods (in case that was the next question)

Being a Minnesota native, I know something about mosquitoes.
If you're around any kind of standing water, no matter how small a pool, they will breed there. I've never been bothered by them in Kihei, but I've noticed a few up the mountain.
And I've never developed an immunity to them. Although, some people may be less affected by them than others.
And, yes. The natives wear raincoats made out of palm leaves. I'm sure there are vendors that would be glad to sell you such an item.
