You could replace Hawaii with just about any other state.

They seem to have left out one, UH head football coach Timmy Chang will have a base salary of about $500,000 in the first year of his contract, his predecessor made $800,000. Like most states, the college football coaches are the highest paid jobs. Here in our state the UW and WSU football coaches make $1,020,000 and $2,700,000 respectively.

The football coach for my university makes $3.5 mil and we haven't been any good in a long time. -And, actually the basketball coach makes much more! Not any good in that, either.

Anyways, appears one can be at the top of that list and still not afford to live in Hawaii. Also, I didn't see senior (military) officers on the list. But if you consider their on-base housing- not the housing allowance dollar amount, but the market value of the actual accommodation provided- they should be at the very top of the list.
