I think I've finally settled on a birthday (late June) gift for my SO- Sky Diving!

He loves sky diving, but hasn't tried it here yet. Does anyone have any recommendations for Sky Diving outfits here on Oahu?

I'm sorry I can't recommend a specific school to you. There are two, I believe, both on the North Shore at Dillingham field. The business known as Skydive Hawaii has a couple employees I am familiar with and that is really the only link I have with the place.

It would be good if you knew that the instructors have been certified by the USPA (United States Parachute Association) and if asked they ought to be able to produce the certificate for you but in all my years of skydiving I have never seen anybody ask for credentials. Your best bet is to head out there and just sit down and watch the students coming down for landing. You can see from the smiles on their faces and excited conversations as to how much they enjoyed jumping out of an airplane. If they thought their instructors were unsatisfactory you'd be able to figure that out from 100 feet away.

At the same airport is a couple glider operations. That also is an excellent way to see Oahu from the air.

As Skybob said there are two schools at Dillingham Airfield on Oahu,
Skydive Hawaii and Pacific Skydiving Center. Both use USPA certified instructors.

Google "skydiving Hawaii" to get links to each of their sites. Check out their sites and then go down and look 'em over.

I know folks at each but am partial to one and have only jumped there. In the interest of fairness I won't actually recommend one over the other - they are both good, you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

BTW is your SO licensed? If so I would very strongly recommend you either call or visit and talk to the persons there. I believe a minimum of a B license is now required at either place due to the usual winds out at Dillingham.

Excellent choice for a great B-day present!

I took my husband skydiving as a surprise for his bday last year We used Pacific Skydiving and had an awesome time! The other place is Skydive Hawaii. The entertainment book has a 50% off coupon and you can also find coupons in all the tourist mags. Our tandem instructors were awesome.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting the video as well...a little pricey but totally worth it!

The view is AMAZING and the rush is like none I've ever experienced

Are there any drop zones on Maui? I will be heading there next summer for a while and wanted to get a chance to take a look at Maui from above. I have jumped a few times, nothing much, never finished getting my licenses or anything. We are just planning a family trip and I want to make sure I don't miss the oppurtunity to take in Hawaii from 14,000. Thanks in advance guys.

Out of curiosity what does a single tandem jump cost there? At the most well known DZ here in Michigan they charge $225 for a tandem. If you have your own license and gear I think a plane ride is around $25-$30 to 14,000.
