We stay in HI two months out of the year and we buy those type of things over there usually at Longs Drugs or Walmart. You will only need minimal shorts, tops and bathing suit. Oh, don't forget your flip flops, although you can get them there too! Aloha!
Please tell me you're joking
we knew that it was the rainy season and therefore got our hotel in Poipu. We will be there in 2 weeks.
We were told that poipu is a nice sunny place even during these times. and we can travel up north to site see, hike, etc.

The weather is varitable this time of year but you are correct that Poipu is one of the better spots to vacation this time of year. You can also travel to the west side of the island in search of sun too. Anyways you slice it, it's better weather than the east coast...
Do you have a copy of Ultimate Kauai, it's the best reference when visiting? You can also buy it here at COSTCO or Walmart.
A neighbor of mine (near Lava Tree State Park) recorded 31" of rain from Wednesday through Monday.
It did not rain continuous. There was some sun occasionally.

Each island is different and there are big differences on each island. We had a unusual storm roll through last week so that was worse than normal.
You will be fine on Kauai and Poipu is the best choice this time of year, enjoy.
Location: not sure, but there's a hell of a lot of water around here!

Water was coming down so hard at Kamaole Beach Park 1 in Kihei this morning that I could barely see my hand in front of my face. Never seen anything quite like it. Course it all cleared up when I turned the shower off... Normal weather report in Hawaii,, "Tradewinds light and variable, with some showers in the windward areas and higher elevations". That's pretty much it, year around, although I suspect this winter may be wetter than the last few.. Of course, I do have a tendency to say that every year...wouldn't worry about the weather,,, cannibals?? Another thing altogether.........
Aloha and,,,, uuuurrrrpppp, scuze me, okolemaluna
