I receive about $500.00 a month more in disability payments than Medicaid allows for in Pa. plus I have about $50,000 in savings which I accumulated over a lifetime. I'm told that both of these things make me ineligible for Medicaid in Pa. so I've not applied. Is this true?

$50,000 in a taxable savings account/CD would be a disqualifier in any state unless this is a retirement account - like an IRA or 401k. Some states disregard retirement monies, others don't.

Every state has different income maximums for Medicaid.

Read this link, complete the questionnaire. Should tell you if you're likely to qualify.
