My wife and I both had an experience today which threw us back to the 80's.

As it happens, she's an RN and has recently been on State Disability due to a herniated disk. Insurance Carrier AFLAC plays a role in her claim. As a result, AFLAC needed certain documentation which my wife had on hand. My wife called AFLAC and informed them that she ready to send required docs via email. To her surprise, AFLAC can only receive docs via USPO or FAX. We have email access, but we don't have a FAX machine.

A few hours later, I called my existing clinic to request a transfer of medical records to my new primary physician at another clinic. The person on the other end of my call informed me that my record transfer request requires that I go to the clinic and fill out a form. I said to the person, "With this Coronavirus outbreak, isn't it risky for me to go to the clinic? Can you not email me the form?" Answer: "No Sir. We have no email access. But we can mail it via USPO."

How is it possible that, in 2020, we in the United States of America have not been gotten beyond 1980's FAX technology? This is absurd and baffling.

Something is very wrong with our healthcare system when, in year 2020, we are unable to exchange documentation via the internet.

You can send / receive faxes from an email account, e.g.

https://www.gmailfax.org/

Google 'email to fax' to see what's available that meets your needs.

Also, you can get a combination copier / printer / fax. I got one from HP a few years ago, you can print over WiFi from anywhere in the house. I've been very happy with it.
