Am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I turned 65 at the end of January. My EIP ends April 30th. I am retired and live mostly out of the U.S but may move back in a year or 2.
I am deciding whether to choose an Aetna give back for part B which discounts $75 or delaying getting part A and B until March 2022.
Medicare for Dummies says that if you join medicare less than 12 months after your EIP ends and GEP ends that you won’t have to pay the 10% penalty for not getting Part B before EIP ends. I chatted with Medicare but they would not confirm this.
"You're first eligible to enroll in Part B the month you return to the U.S. to establish your new residence. You won't have to pay a late enrollment penalty if you enroll in Part B within 3 months of when you first return to the U.S."
