I turn 18 at the end of July and I am wondering if I would be able to donate plasma. I'm asking because I'm using Enbrel for Psoriasis on my head once a week. I give it to myself as an injection in the upper leg area once a week, and I am wondering would that unqualify me to donate plasma. The psoriasis is only on my head and isn't anywhere else on my body and right now theres barely any there on my head because the medicine works great. I asked my parents and they said they think I should be able to give but I might need a note from my dermatologist. Thank you

I would contact the nearest blood donation center to discuss. I am sure they would be more than glad to talk with you!

I know that drug is not specifically listed as an exclusion but they would know. There are plenty of other things that can unqualify someone as a plasma donor.

AABB Donor History Questionnaire Documents

Here is a thread on the topic but that is for whole blood; plasma donations sometimes have more specific exclusions.

It is admirable for you to want to donate. More people who can should!

Do you want to donate or SELL Plasma? I'm asking since you asked about donating plasma, and most people think about donating blood. You probably can not donate it- but you can most likely sell it. Sold plasma is not given to humans, it is used for research or chemical manufacturing for blood bank and other medical reagents.
