I'm not a nurse, but it sounds like you have a blown vein. If that's the case then you should recover fully in time. Don't do anything that hurts or aggravates it for a while and you should be fine.

This is more common than a lot of people think and it probably doesn't hurt anything but the drawing nurse/phlebotomist's pride. Your primary care provider should be fully equipped to treat you or refer you if you don't start seeing improvement in the timeframe that, for example, a cut on your finger requires to heal.

Out of curiousity: Are you vegan or do you have a condition like diverticulitis/colitis/IBS? Do you eat a gluten free diet?

EDIT: I just re-read and realized that this is a months-old condition. Whether you believe in medicine or not it's time for a medical opinion.

I am a certified phlebotomist myself and that sounds to be like the phlebotomist that drew you hit a nerve. It is very possible to do in the area you've described because the nerves run very close to veins in the forearm/elbow crook. There's also important tendons that can be damaged in there.

I agree that it's time for you to start considering medicine, because even simple blood draws CAN damage a nerve. You need to seek more help.

This just happened to my 19 year old son. He got blood drawn one week ago, he is bruised from wrist to elbow, his arm is at 45 degree angle with pain, he cannot straighten or lift.....

I am wondering what your outcome was. What therapy you tried and what worked for you? Please help

Default Any treatments done?

Do you have any updates about any treatments done to improve your condition? This just happened to my fiance and I am worried. They were trying to get an Arterial blood draw, she felt electric shocks when the respiratory therapist was getting it. Her hand got swollen after 2 days, starting to get increasingly bruised, she cant fully extend her arm and still weak. We are going to get her Right upper arm ultrasound tomorrow to see if its a DVT. They also did D-dimer blood test and it was >1.0.
