A California woman who underwent a double mastectomy and later discovered she didn't have breast cancer will be paid $198,000 after winning a medical malpractice lawsuit. Ana Jimenez-Salgado had her breasts surgically removed at a Los Angeles county hospital after outside pathologists said the cells obtained from an August 2007 biopsy were cancerous.

Number one..............she did not get near enough money.

Number two.............what is the normal protocol when diagnosing cancer? Does one lab person look at the cells and make that decision? Two? Three?

Shouldn't different samples of the cells being examined be prepared and viewed by several different specialists before such a life changing diagnosis is handed down? Maybe at least two seperate labs should be used before a diagnosis is made?

Just what is the normal protocol? Anyone know?
