moved to a new state a few months back. Needed to find a doc to give me my xanax for an anxiety issue and the doc in my other state said I needed them and that's why they make them. New doc said NO to the xanax and was a real jerk about it. Ordered some blood work-up and said come back in a week. Also on that day he was the one who found the nodule on my thyroid gland and said you need to see a doctor cause it's probably cancer. Ok, I'm AT a doctor now-right?
So I leave there swearing I am never going to him again. I am seeing an endo for the non malignant nodule. So the jerk doc's office calls to confirm me coming in and I said no I am not seeing him again but I want my test results. Nurse gets on phone and won't give them to me. I said tell jerk doc to call me then. She makes me an appt to come in and see another doctor there, who she says is nicer but I can't see him for 2 months.Well that was yesterday. he comes in says let me tell you right off the bat that I do not prescribe xanax and oh by the way.........the test you had here 2 months ago showed a slightly high glucose level and you have hepatitis C, and.......at which point I am freaking and say..........wait back up-what did you just say??? He goes.......yes we will send you to blah blah blah for a liver biospy and yadda yadda yadda.................and I ask why wasn't I notified 2 months ago and he says he doesn't know as he is just now seeing my chart. So he says they need to do 2 more test to show conclusively. So I agreed and they were expensive and I ask to see original jerk doc for an explanation and he refuses to come in to see me.
I am in shock. I have been married 30 years in a monogamous relationship, do not use drugs, do not do anything that appears to cause this deadly virus. I'm so angry that no one called me. I'm shocked, scared, stressed..........you name it.
I do take xanax and am wondering if it could cause a reading to be high in my liver.I don't feel unwell at all.
Anyone who can or will answer me, please do so.

Do you have a tattoo? A barber who put blades, etc in the blue solution? These are some of the more common ways of contracting hep C. This is a very serious liver disease that must be followed by a specialist; a gastroenterologist will probably be who you'll be referred to next. FYI: Naomi Judd contracted hep C as a nurse caring for a patient who had a then unknown liver infection. Good luck to you.

no tatoo. did find out though that my ex husband has Hep C and he was a needle/drug user when I was married to him over 30 years ago. Guess I am to assume I've had this for that long??
Can't find much information on xanax causing liver enzymes to be high; but did find some reports indicating it.
Will know the results of the test from yesterday on Tuesday.

I have Hep C, discovered by accident 10 years ago, contracted some 20 or 30 years ago, had a liver biopsy, everything is good. Never had symptoms, treatment or anything... I see a gastroenterologist for blood work once a year or so... Good luck and don't worry...

Xanax has nothing to do with abnormal SGPT/liver enzymes....however if a doctor suspects drug abuse he may hesititate to prescribe a mild anti-anxietydrug.

Hep C is complicated and check WebMd.com for causes. My brother is a dr. and chronic hep C is nothing to ignore- it can be serious-

well gee Sunny; don't you think I know it's a death sentence???
I'm taking it very seriously thank you very much.
I think it's against the law for a doctor to NOT call and reveal test results such as these. I intend to consult an atty. about this as soon as the testing is complete and they give me the prognosis.

Maybe.....
My experience when I had an abnormal mammogram (OK) - the staff tried to call with results, but did NOT leave them on the answering machine, only a message to call the office. Hope you get positive news.
