I apologize ahead of time if i am putting this in the wrong place, but i was hoping to get some folks' opinions about something that has been bothering me for a while now.
let me begin by saying that we learned this week that my mother has cancer in her liver. luckily she is in otherwise great health, and she feels deep down that it is all gonna be alright. i value my mother's intuition so i am hoping she pulls through. the doctor's seem to think that her chances are excellent. here is what concerns me.

i have always noticed that i can't drink certain beers. before that seems like a whiplash digression from my topic, bear (beer?) with me. but i always thought it was strange that when i drink budweiser i would get instantly sick. i can only drink very, very dark beers, and not many at that. it seems that my tolerance for alcohol is very very little. three guinness extra stouts and i am pretty much snot-hanging drunk. my sister is not the same way, but my mother is. i am wondering if this is not an indication of a sluggish liver, or something that could cause me problems down the road. i also have a problem with wheat- i notice that when i don't eat any wheat i am alot calmer, and then when i eat wheat it tends to make me feel fluttery, kind of jacked up. could all this be a simple malfunction/underfunctioning of the liver? any opinions on this is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have some allergy issues. I am not a physician but I know that allergies causes inflammation which can increase your risk of cancers over time. There are numerous books and information on keeping your body healthy. You can research antioxidents for your liver which L-glutamine is one. Your liver and spleen stop releasing Glutamine to consuming it after trauma. Ginger the fresh herb. Milk Thistle Seed is the number one liver supplements that most naturopaths and some physician recommend to help cleanse your liver and detoxify the blood. There are plenty of books and sites that I would recommend, you can PM. Also, it takes a certain amount of alcohol everyday to build and have to increase the amount to obtain a buzz. Alcohol should be consumed in moderation. Adding that to your liver to detox is not good. Hope this helps a little.

I am sorry for your mom, I will put your family in my prayers.

I would be very cautious in taking milk thistle, especially if you might have allergies, as it's related to ragweed.
