I wore a very heavy backpack for 2 days and now my back hurts. Like any time I make quick moves or jump or run . . . my back hurts.
Any solution to this?
I'm sorry you are hurting. How heavy was your backpack?
When we go backpacking, I try to keep mine at no more that 30-40 lbs.
That depends on how long we will be on the trail. Short trips, no more than 25-30 usually.
There is no way to know what is causing your back pain and there can be so many different causes.
If it is still bothering you on Monday, it would be a good idea to be checked by your physician.
If it becomes worse before then, please go to your E R to find out what's going on, okay?
I do hope you will be feeling better very soon.
For the time being don't make any sudden or quick moves jumps etc...you are obviously irritating something.
It sounds like you stressed the muscles and that will take time to heal. How much time....if your back is still giving you trouble after 1 or 2 weeks go see a doc to make sure all is well. In the interim take it easy as the back is the worst place to start having problems with.
Ice (appropriately applied) and NSAIDs for pain and swelling to alleviate the pain. And more important - rest.
Go see a doc please. You obviously irritated the back and now sudden moves hurt as it will. 1 week is enough; go see a doc. Sorry about the double take but I didn't read your OP clearly and didn't realize it's been a week already.
OP back pain can take weeks to resolve sometimes. I wouldn't see a Dr unless you have weakness in your legs, bowel or bladder incontinence or pain not controlled by Ibuprofen.
NSAIDS work best for back pain along with heat and sometimes a light massage.
Don't whatever you do start taking narcotics. This is one of the most common situations where people become addicted.
and that blue mineral ice you can get in a 99 cent store work real well.
i remember i slipped on a wet bathroom floor at work, came down twisted, and in a few days the pain was terrible, but it subsided in maybe a week or more. also have gotten it from shoveling. housework, it comes ands goes

Don't wear a heavy backpack?
If you're wearing it for hiking, make sure it is a good hiking backpack (and that it's packed properly)... it makes a world of a difference. Don't even bother trying to use the cheapo ones marketed for kids to carry a couple of books in for class, the weight distribution is all wrong. A good pack will be expensive, but they are worth every penny. Personally I use a Osprey Kestrel 48, great pack for weekend hikes.
Edit: In case you want a couple more details about my specific pack and me... I'm 6'0.5" 150lbs. My pack typically rings in around 35-40lbs. Used it this summer to summit Mt. Washington in NH on the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail. Sits nice and tight to your body, so it doesn't really alter your center of gravity much, makes it much easier to keep your balance during scrambles.
