A basic understanding/comprehension of human psychology and motivation is key here.
If that were as true as you'd say, sounds more like they would be vying for the Pres of the US, rather than the doctor's role.

To address the issue of "running to a doctor for every little thing"

sometimes you're backed into it, by schools, employers, etc.

I don't know how many times I've run my kids to doctors just to satisfy a school. Many minor injuries and aliments can be treated by Dr. Mom, but schools insist on a doctor's excuse, so off we go to sit in a crowded waiting room, picking up other people's germs, to see a grumpy doctor who thinks I'm dragging the kid in there for no real reason.

A bit OT here, but I learned a little trick---our school requires we keep the kid out if fever >100.5 Well, if the kid is out more than 3 days in a row, we're supposed to get a note from a "health care professional". Take him to the school nurse, let her take his temp, then its documented, you're not out all day and $50 for nothing. Usually doctors don't do anything, anyways, except what they can tell you over the phone. Our pediatrician says any fever under 103 that lasts less than one week doesn't require antibiotics, unless other symptoms present, etc. They won't even schedule you for an appt if the symptoms are a basic cold, yet the school won't let the kid back in with the symptoms, and if you keep him out without a doctor's note they're truant (we went round and round about that one year).

That's where I've found those urgent care medical clinics to be handy. No appt necessary, reasonable fees, they write notes for school, employment, etc.

I hope pediatricians realize at least 50%, possibly more, of his patients are there under "duress" to get a note for school, when the kid would be better off at home resting.

Oh, but to be president of the USA, you must be a US citizen, born on American soil. Probably that's why there's so many foreign doctors, they couldn't get to be president!
