I went to my cardio last week and he prescribed Xanax and told me to take some reflux meds. I went to the store and picked up prilosec, later read the back of the box and it waid warning.. ask doctor if you are taking Xanax.

So I called on Friday and he wrote a rx for omeprazole, I looked it up and omeprazole IS prilosec!!

I have to wait until monday and just might call my gastro. But how dangerous is it to take prilosec with Xanax and Lisinopril? My reflux is horribly bad, I am unable to sleep at night because of a tickle in my throat and wheezy windpipe

My doctor prescribed Prilosec for me recently. I take Xanax too. I had a horrible reaction to the Prilosec after taking it for a couple of weeks. Some of my symptoms were vomiting, headache, nervousness, loss of balance, confusion, nausea, chest and left shoulder pain, loss of appetite, and blurred vision. I felt like I wanted to lay down on the bathroom floor and die.

I take another med for Leukemia, but those symptoms are different. Once I stopped taking the Prilosec, I was back to my old self within a day or so. I haven't spoken to my doctor yet as I wanted to see how I felt this weekend. So far so good, so I believe it was the Prilosec.

My doctor was not that concerned about the Xanax as I take a low dose. We'll see what she says when I tell her about these symptoms.

FWIW my doc said he'd take Xanax off the market if he could.

I have taken prilosec in the past and headaches are unavoidable. I also felt super dizzy on the stuff.

If your pharmacy is still open, you could call and ask the pharmacist about the warning.

Sounds like you need a new cardiologist. That was a very deceitful thing for him to write a prescription for the same drug and just change the name to the generic.

Is your reflux associated with anxiety?
