I recently had an ENT doctor cauterize my nose because I've had chronic nosebleeds since childhood. The docs have said i am considered a bleeder.

However after doc did the work, the bleeding still occurs. What's up with that?

This happens a day after getting the work done. Starts to make me wonder if the cautery is supposed to stop the bleeding or just slow it down.

Have you tried a neti pot? Using salt (saline) water toughens your membranes and keeps your nasal cavity clean and clear. I would look into it if I were you. Also, it sounds like you might need some more vitamin C. Cell membranes get very thin and rupture easily when a person is low on vitamin C. (One of the signs of scurvy is gums bleeding for no reason).

I would try to find a holistic practitioner and find out WHY you are having this problem. It isn't going to go away until you fix the root cause.

My daughter had it done a few years ago; it ended up working really well. Her nose bleeds used to be so bad that she was stuck over a sink; I almost ran her to a hospital a few times.

I had it cauterized a couple of times when I was a kid. I didn't get nosebleeds often though and can't recall what triggered them. I do know, that I had my adenoids removed when I was young as well, and that I didn't have another nosebleed for well over 35 years, until just last year when I had 2 in two days. But that was probably because I took 2 alieve to tackle a migraine and you're only supposed to take one.

Question: Do they typically administer anesthesia or sedation for a procedure like this?
