I evny people my age that still can stay up to the wee hours of the morning. I've known people 20-30yrs. older that can seem to "party" all night long. I'm not even in my mid-30's and find it hard to stay up LATE like 12am-3am in the morning. I'm one that needs like 8hrs. of sleep or else Im yawning and feeling tired too much the first few hrs. I wake up
I don't know - neighbors in their 70's stay up later than me (although I also have CFIDS and Fibro. so that drags me down although I don't get much sleep). I honestly can't remember the last time I got 8 hrs. - I'm so tired all the time, 24 hrs. sounds good but never happens, LOL.
When people get into their 60s+ their sleep requirement goes down to about 4 hours/night. I do feel more tired in my 30s than in my 20s though, that's for sure.
I just turned 60 and I seem to need less sleep not more. If I get 6 to 7 hours, I'm good to go all day....start getting tired in late afternoon but get a second wind and can stay up until 1 or 2 am. My problem is that I don't get enough sleep - often operating on 3 or 4 hours per night - a common problem for women of a menopausal age.
I went back to collage in my early 40's and enrolled full time until I got my desired degrees...I could stay up all night and study for a final and then go to school and take the exam with no problems...I could not do that now. Well, I cold probably stay up all night but my brain would be mush the next day.
I'm 30-something and I don't hold up as well as I did when I was in my 20s. I can go a couple nights getting little sleep (6 hours or less), but I will have to make up for it later for sure.
What happened with me was in my 30's I was exhausted; could fall asleep any time after 8 pm; could also get up at 4:30- 5:30 & feel great.
Last year I turned 44 & my sleep schedule is out of whack. I'm tired at 9 but if I don't get to sleep by 9 I'm up until 3am. I always force myself to get up at 7:15. I have mornings where I need to be up at 6; it's hell getting up.
I hope it goes back to normal at some point; I'm exhausted. I'm already taking melatonin & a sleeping pill. I know it's due to age & hormones & just about everyone I know this age is having the same issues
