On 1/20 I had a minor little virus with bad head congestion, some diarhhea and a short lived fever of 99.9-100.5

it's gone but the cough lingers. saw doctor, no chest or lung congestion, no fever. another doctor wrote me a prescription for augmentin because he thought i might have had a sinus infection. it doesn't seem to help other than make me nauseous

the cough has been slightly better but normally comes on when the steam heater comes up in my apartment. at work the cough is very stubborn and the drip can be so bad i have to run for water or i feel i'm going to choke

i did have a cough that lasted for 9 months in 1992 before i took a chlor trimeton tab that finally made it go away and i'm told this is quite common

still, my grandmother died of lung cancer (non smoker as far as i knew) and i worry because i have some male breast enlargement (gynecomastia) which i read is a possible hidden sign of lung cancer, and i have discomfort around a shoulder blade in the back on the left side, tho i realize this most likely comes from my back pulling from sitting at a computer all day. i only feel it when i sit and it dissapears when i get up. i frequently get that pinched nerve feeling in the back

would a lung cancer cough have a post nasal drip or would it be a different type of cough that is not from back of the throat irritation

also, my voice is hoarse, another possible sign of LC

i don't smoke but have been exposed to a lot of second hand smoke on the job

Since you're worrying so much about it, why don't you go back to the doctor? That's a long time to cough. It could be allergies, asthma, sinus drainage, or a combination of those. You don't say how old you are, but if you're young, it's highly unlikely that you have lung cancer.

I imagine the X-ray will show that your lungs are clear. But it will be worth it for the peace of mind.

Sounds like post nasal drip. Very hard to get rid of. I have the same thing. Try gargling with a Tbs of apple cider vinegar and a cup of water.

If phlegm comes up and you feel relief, its post nasal drip.

We both got the cold this winter and found that the cough lasted several weeks, three to four. Husband is still coughing but he got the cold later. Does get worse with the heating season.

Very gradually went away.
