broken leg (x-rays, pain, ankle, surgery)

i fell on the ice last Tuesday, I broke both my Fibula and Tibia bones. I had emergency surgery on Wed. they put a rod in my bone and a plate with the other bone, there is screws at the bottom. my question is... my toes and the top of my foot are BURNING like my foot is in a fire, it won't let up. no one ever said this would happen, there seems to be no relief, ice doesn't work, elevating it makes it worse... any suggestions would appreciated

Call your doctor. A screw could be touching a nerve. They can be backed out a little.

Yeah that's definitely nerve sensitivity. I was warned about that when I had a rod put in my femur. They had to slit open a couple inches in my left butt cheek (no lie!) and inserted the rod through the top of my femur near the hip, almost down to the knee. I also had a steel plate with screws in both my radius and ulna, and they warned me I'd feel a weird, unpainful sensation in my butt if the rod slipped, and that my fingers might hurt or be oversensitive to cold/heat if the plates or screws were placed awkwardly.

The rod did slip a couple years later had to be removed. The plates placed perfectly and removed after the first year anyway so fortunately I never had any pain in my fingers.

Well on December 4, 2010 I was walking outside. I live in North Carolina. We got some snow. I was wearing diabetic shoes. I advise against wearing diabetics shoes outside when it snows. I fell and shattered my lower leg bone and broke my ankle. I'll post pictures of my x-rays. Now I'm having the same issue. It burns like fire and it hurts really bad.
