I have an HDL of 61. Live enzymes of an ALT of 18, AST of 27 & a bld glucose HgA1C of 5.1. My dad is Type 2 diabetic, has CHF & is ex-smoker, is still overweight @ 76 yrs. I am only son, 51 yrs, & wonder if these levels are ok? I drink red wine (eat very well, have low bdyfat & workout daily, no smokes, etc.) & I had a mom w/ cirrhosis & she subsequently died in '00 of colon cancer (even after a liver t-splant in 11/07).
Anyone help me determine genetics vs lifestyle, in regards to these health worries? Thanks.
You should be having a long discussion with your doctor, not strangers on an internet forum. You have serious concerns and we can not put them into perspective. We can offer help with what's worked for us, what didn't work, what helped, suggestions for another course, et. But not specific medical advice.
Thanks, you're right. Just spoke to my doc & all is ok. I may need to add a bit more protein to diet, as I've lost bit of muscle in past yr or so. Thanks again.
