I don't know that it was "good" -- I was on a liquid diet - total nutrition straight into my veins and it had to be infused for a LONG period of time - like 10 hours. Generally it ran at night, but that meant I had to stay home in the evenings in order for it to start and be done in time for me to unhook and go to school.
Plus there were a few nights with thunderstorms and power outages that I was a little nervous.
But all in all - compared to the alternative (starving to death, basically) -- give me the broviac any day!
I have done 9 hour infusions before, great time to play WoW! But usually the infusion nurse would give me two benedryl and I would be too sleepy to play.
Thanks everyone, it helps to know lots of you had this and no problems...kiddo is 5 yrs old, so it gets a little frustrating, especially with dressing change, but all in all, we are doing great!!! just had the blood work done and it looks awesome, YAY!!!! Lots of games, movies and all the good stuff does help, makes the time go by faster Keeping my fingers crossed it stays this way...thanks again
How old is your child? My mom went out and bought me really tight tank tops to wear. I didn't need as much tape and it prevented the tubes from swinging and getting caught. Also helps disguise them better under clothes.
Great idea, and one of the nurses at the hospital told me the same thing. We just got a bunch of kids sports bras, works great and keeps the cap from dangling all over the place!!! And being 5, kind of makes her feel special wearing it
